Allegory : A family of four, the youngest covered in hummus, banter pleasantly as they finish their meal. They are sitting in a Greek restaurant in the Latin Quarter of Paris, France. Flashy garland and strings of bright red Christmas beads sway in the breeze floating off of the waiters as they swoosh through the tables with trays of wine and puff pastries. It’s Christmas Eve, and after attending mass at Notre Dame Cathedral, the family decided to find a place to sit and eat. Smashing plates and enthusiastic welcomes ushered them into the Greek Mythique.
The waiter is a pleasant man in his mid 40’s with tight jeans and an even tighter ponytail. He likes to laugh. You can see it in the wrinkles around his eyes. He wonders when he will get to spend Christmas Eve with his family. Maybe next year.
